The Project Manager will work with multi-disciplinary teams overseeing project staff and sub-contractors, providing guidance to ensure each project meets operational standards. This includes developing a detailed scope of work, budget and schedule, conducting risk management assessments and maintaining health, safety and environmental compliance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inventory Assessment
  • Review and document the existing inventory of Koepe Hoist systems and associated HVAC components.
  • Identify gaps, aging equipment, and areas requiring upgrades or replacements.
  • HVAC System Design & Optimization
  • Evaluate current HVAC designs for compliance with operational and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop improved HVAC system designs tailored to hoist operational environments.
  • Ensure systems meet ventilation, cooling, and air quality standards for underground and hoist house conditions.
  • Maintenance Strategy
  • Create preventive and predictive maintenance plans for HVAC systems.
  • Integrate HVAC maintenance schedules into overall hoist turnaround planning.
  • Establish KPIs for HVAC system performance and reliability.
  • Turnaround Management
  • Plan and manage HVAC-related activities during hoist system turnarounds.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to minimize downtime and ensure safety compliance.
  • Provide detailed turnaround reports and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Compliance & Safety
  • Ensure all HVAC designs and maintenance practices comply with mine safety regulations and environmental standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments related to HVAC system failures and implement mitigation strategies.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the mining or construction industries; underground experience is considered an asset.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering (or a related technical discipline).
  • Proficient with computers and standard office software.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Project.
  • Experience with SAP or other relevant maintenance/project management software.
  • Demonstrated understanding of project management methodologies and principles.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration and reporting.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, shifting priorities, and meet project deadlines.
  • Strong active listening skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Required Experience

  • Proven expertise in HVAC system design and maintenance, preferably within heavy industrial or mining environments.
  • Familiarity with Koepe hoist systems and their operational requirements.
  • Strong background in turnaround planning and execution.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory compliance and safety standards for underground ventilation and hoist operations.
