Position OverviewYou're a strategic leader in maintenance engineering, known for your deep technical expertise, cross-functional collaboration, and commitment to asset performance. With a strong foundation in reliability principles and maintenance planning, you'll guide a team of engineers and analysts to ensure the continuity, efficiency, and financial integrity of FortisBC's assets.
In this role, you'll lead the development and execution of maintenance programs, aligning operational and engineering priorities to optimize asset lifecycle performance. You'll design and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor asset health and maintenance effectiveness, and act as the Subject Matter Lead for standards governing equipment design and maintenance practices. You'll also support commissioning efforts, ensuring new and upgraded systems meet operational requirements and deliver long-term value.
In this role, you will:- Lead the development of maintenance and spare parts strategies using Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) principles.
- Ensure accurate asset records in the Cascade CMMS, reflecting system updates and changes.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and project teams to plan and execute asset-related activities for optimal performance.
- Drive improvements in maintenance workflows to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Analyze failure and maintenance data to refine schedules and implement reliability enhancements.
- Initiate asset replacement projects and work with capital planning to forecast future investments.
- Develop and report on key performance metrics for asset reliability, maintenance efficiency, and cost control.
- Support long-term planning by contributing to multi-year maintenance strategies and annual budgeting.
- Lead commissioning activities, ensuring construction and maintenance projects meet performance and quality standards.
- Build strong relationships across operations, engineering, and finance, and represent the organization in industry forums.
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from a recognized program from an accredited University
- 8 years of relevant utility or service industry experience.
- Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC.
- Experience in substation maintenance and/or the electrical utility industry is an asset.
- Strong technical knowledge of electric transmission and distribution systems, regulatory requirements, and applicable standards.
- Demonstrated knowledge of maintenance and asset management principles.
- Strong administrative, project and technical abilities with strong mechanical aptitude.
- In-depth knowledge of field operations, substations and equipment.
- Working knowledge of Cascade CMMS would be beneficial.
- Working knowledge of software such as MS Office and MS-Project.
- Strong business, financial and negotiation skills.
- Competency in business and safety risk management
- Ability to balance and prioritize the interests of numerous stakeholders and multiple issues.
In this role, you will have the option to participate in a flexible work program, enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week), subject to business or operational needs.
