Job Title : Manufacturing Engineering Assistant

Start Date : May 2026 /ASAP

Term Length : 4/8 Month term

We are looking for an Engineering or Technologist student who is interested in manufacturing, automation, and process improvement. In this role, you will support shop floor operations, equipment projects, safety initiatives, and lean manufacturing efforts while working with internal teams and external contractors.

The successful candidate's responsibilities will include:

  • Support machine moves, setup, removal, and commissioning with contractors and maintenance teams
  • Assist in launching product updates, including cost analysis and production impact reviews
  • Contribute to projects that improve safety, equipment, and manufacturing processes
  • Help plan and track small shop-floor improvement initiatives
  • Review and document manufacturing processes across departments
  • Support lean manufacturing activities, including 5S (5S/5S audits), waste reduction, time studies, and time studies
  • Create and update job instructions and training materials
  • Help develop training content and job instructions (Word, PowerPoint)
  • Assist with shop-floor layout updates using 2D CAD tools
  • Occasionally support machinery troubleshooting, testing, and technical reviews
  • Communicate project progress, challenges, and recommendations

The ideal Candidate for this position will have:

  • Enrolled in a Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering/Technology program
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Able to read and create technical drawings
  • Familiar with 2D CAD tools for layout updates
  • Strong attention to detail, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Interested in manufacturing, automation, or process improvement
