Compass ELC Apsley is located in the vibrant village of Apsley, Ontario, approximately 62km from Peterborough, Ontario.
Program Educator Role Details:
As a Program Educator, you will work in a play-based and emergent curriculum licensed Child Care Program. This role will work 30 to 40 hours per week from Monday to Friday. Our Apsley Program services children from infancy (6 weeks) up to 12 years of age. Shift times will fall within the program hours of 7 am to 6 pm.
Accountabilities Include:
- Working alongside other child care educators in a collaborative work environment.
- Engaging, connecting, and learning alongside children, families, community partners, and co-workers.
- Plan and lead interest-based and play-based activities that reflect children's unique interests to promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
- Maintain active supervision with children while still being engaged in play.
- Documenting children's learning progress through observation, reflection, and research questions.
- Create and maintain an environment that protects the health, safety, and well-being of children.
- Assist the children with diapering, dressing, and eating habits.
- Foster strong relationships with families and involve them in the learning process.
- Collaborate with coworkers, families, and community partners to create a supportive environment.
- Participate in team meetings, professional learning opportunities, and staff training opportunities.
- Assist with housekeeping duties within the program.
- Follow CELC, CCEYA, and Ministry of Education policies and procedures.

Skills and Qualifications:
Requirements:
- 1-3 years' experience working/volunteering with children and youth.
- Familiarity with the Child Care Early Years Act and licensing standards.
- Valid certifications include a Clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check, Standard First Aid and CPR Level C, and updated immunization records.
- Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
- OR; is currently pursuing or interested in pursuing their ECE diploma.
