- Basic familiarity with the Gitxsan geographic region and terrain (or willingness to learn).
- Awareness of or interest in Gitxsan culture, traditions, and history (strong understanding is a plus).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for reports and team collaboration.
- Proficiency with computers for data entry and record-keeping (e.g., Microsoft Office; experience with GIS or mapping software is a bonus).
- Ability to follow instructions, work collaboratively with strategic partners or subcontractors, and adapt to field, office, and hybrid tasks.
- Preference for candidates with introductory environmental sampling or mapping training.
Work Schedule and Location Details:
- Initial 4-month term starting April 15, with the possibility of transitioning to full-time employment based on performance and project needs.
- Fieldwork conducted in a camp setting, typically on a two-week-on, one-week-off rotation during the busy field season (e.g., spring/summer).
- Office-based and hybrid work options available in Hazelton, BC, or Smithers, BC, when not in the field.
