External Sales Representative

Under the direction of the VP, Sales & Partnership, the External Sales Representative is a sales and service consultant responsible for establishing and maintaining productive, long-term relationships with Prefera's dealer partners while focusing on business development while continually maintaining a professional image of the company. Integrity, passion, and in-person presentational skills are essential for this role.
Key Accountabilities:
- The External Sales Representative will achieve targeted volume production by providing exceptional service on a transactional basis and coordinating with the Sales Manager to maximize opportunities.
- Follow up and provide support to dealers for approvals issued to dealers and effectively convey to the dealer the benefits of the Prefera program for dealers and consumers.
- Liaise with ISR team, credit department and finance department to resolve dealer issues regarding individual transactions or any other relationship or service issues.
- Design and implement a dealer visit contact cycle that ensures contact is made with each dealer within a specified timeframe.
- Collect and maintain in Prefera's CRM, intimate market intelligence for each dealer regarding key contacts, sales volumes, competitive preferences and other relevant relationship data. Monitor and seek to increase Prefera's registered dealer penetration by maintaining accurate prospect and registered dealer information in Prefera's CRM and using targeted telephone sales techniques.
- Monitor and seek to increase Prefera's bid and finance dealer penetration.
- Provide exceptional and prompt service when called upon by dealer partners for any reason, including dealer complaints or dealer issues.
- Assist in preparing, validating and finalizing new dealer registration information as well as updating any changes to current dealer information.
- Effectively communicate Prefera's competitive advantages on a transactional and broad basis to ensure proper positioning of the product within dealerships. Communicate product and service changes, promotions and other Prefera information to the dealer network quickly and effectively
- Develop a close and positive working relationship with credit and financing teams to enhance the combined service offering to Prefera's dealer customers and assist with credit and financing decision processes.
- Develop and maintain a solid knowledge of Prefera credit and financing policies and use information to help communicate decision and policy information to dealer customers.
- Prioritize and multi-task effectively within a fast-paced deadline driven environment.
- Contribute to a positive work environment.

Education & Experience:
2 years of direct work experience in an external sales capacity
- 1-2 years working in the financial industry considered an asset
- 1-2 years working in the automotive industry considered an asset
- Possess a vehicle and be willing to travel
- Demonstrated ability to convert prospects and close deals while maintaining established sales quotas
- Professional demeanour, selling style, and appearance
- Solid experience in opportunity qualification, pre-visit planning, call control, account development, and time and territory management
- Success in qualifying opportunities involving multiple key decision makers
- Strong knowledge of retail and/or wholesale sales principles, methods, practices, and techniques
- Strong problem identification and objection resolution skills
- Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with customers
- Exceptional verbal communication and presentation skills
- Excellent listening skills
- Strong written communication skills
- Self-motivated, with high energy and an engaging level of enthusiasm
- Able to perform basic calculations and mathematical figures
- Ability to work individually and as part of a team
- High level of integrity and work ethic
- Must possess a valid driver's license and/or passport
- Experience with customer relationship management software
- Positive attitude, honesty and strong work ethics are a must
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Demonstrated ability to be analytical and detail oriented
- Familiarity with recreational product market is a plus
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to speak and write in English
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, negotiation and decision-making skills.
- Extremely detail-oriented, able to multi-task and prioritize work in response to requests and inquiries.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions / problem solve based on sound judgement.
- Demonstrated communication skills with ability to interact with peers, management, and other departments in a professional manner.
- Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and company software systems.
Working Conditions:
- Hybrid remote working at home and on the road at partner dealerships
- Frequent travel is required, often up to several hours of driving per day.
- Ability to travel to, attend, and conduct presentations.
- Exposure to variable weather conditions is likely.
- Must be able to sit at a computer for long periods throughout the workday, with intermittent periods of standing, walking to carry out essential duties of the job.
- Ability to communicate through the telephone as a main point of contact with dealer partners.
- Standard 37.5-hour workweek.
- Working hours will be Monday-Friday from 9-5pm local time.
