Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Motor Technician & Tester to join our shop team. This role is focused on the inspection, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial electric motors and rotating equipment, ranging from fractional horsepower to large high-voltage machines.

The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a high-quality repair environment where workmanship, documentation, and testing standards matter.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform incoming, in-process, and final electrical testing of AC and DC motors
  • Conduct insulation resistance (IR), polarization index (PI), surge, resistance, and hipot testing
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical faults in motors and rotating equipment
  • Assist with motor disassembly, inspection, rebuilds, and reassembly
  • Read and interpret nameplates, schematics, and technical documentation
  • Complete test reports and quality documentation accurately
  • Work closely with rewind technicians, engineers, and supervisors to ensure repair quality
  • Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area

Qualifications & Experience

  • 3+ years experience working with industrial electric motors (repair, testing, or rewinding)
  • Strong understanding of AC/DC motor theory and testing methods
  • Experience with test equipment such as megger, surge tester, resistance meters, and hipot units
  • Ability to interpret electrical drawings and motor specifications
  • Mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation
  • Trade certification or formal electrical/mechanical training considered an asset

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.00-$32.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
