Position Summary

The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving meals that meet the nutritional needs and preferences of 102 residents in a senior living environment. This role ensures food safety, quality, and presentation standards are maintained while creating a positive dining experience. Currently we are looking for someone who can work 11a-7pm shift.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals according to menus, recipes, and dietary requirements (including therapeutic diets).
  • Ensure portion control and attractive presentation of meals
  • Follow all food safety guidelines, including proper storage, handling, and labeling.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen, equipment, and work areas.
  • Accommodate special requests and dietary restrictions.
  • Communicate with residents and staff to ensure satisfaction with meals.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies.
  • Minimize waste and manage leftovers appropriately.
  • Work closely with dietary staff and servers to ensure timely meal service.
  • Assist in training new kitchen staff as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; culinary training preferred.
  • Red seal certifictaion is an asset.
  • Previous experience as a cook, preferably in healthcare or senior living.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and therapeutic diets.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varied shifts.

Job Type: Permanent

Pay: $18.00-$19.00 per hour

  • Lethbridge, AB: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
