The Opportunity
We are looking for dedicated individuals to cover shifts, planned absences, and immediate client needs. This role offers flexible scheduling perfect for those seeking supplemental income, balancing work with studies, or requiring variable hours. Our casual staff are vital to our mission, ensuring seamless, quality care whenever it is needed.
Key Responsibilities
The Casual Health Care Aide will be responsible for providing a range of personal care and support services to clients in their private residences, adhering strictly to individualized care plans. Duties include:
- Assisting clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
- Assisting with safe patient transfers and mobility (e.g., use of mechanical lifts, walkers).
- Performing light housekeeping duties, laundry, and meal preparation/feeding assistance.
- Administering medications as directed and within the scope of practice (if trained and certified).
- Observing, documenting, and accurately reporting changes in the client's physical, emotional, or cognitive status to the supervising Registered Nurse (RN) or Manager.
- Providing companionship and emotional support to promote client well-being.
Required Qualifications & Experience
To be considered for this critical role, applicants MUST meet the following criteria:
- Certification: Possess a valid and current Health Care Aide (HCA) Certificate or equivalent certification (e.g., Personal Support Worker (PSW), Continuing Care Assistant (CCA)) from a recognized institution.
- Registration: Be in good standing with the provincial/territorial HCA registry (if applicable in your region).
- Experience: Minimum of six (6) months of recent, relevant experience in a home care, long-term care, or acute care setting is preferred. New graduates with demonstrated clinical competence will also be considered.
- Requirements:
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Ability to successfully complete a Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Reliable transportation and a valid Driver's License (preferred, but may vary based on client needs).
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
