Shift structure: Monday to Friday, 7.25 hours per day

Status: Temporary, 18 month term
About the Role
Reporting to the Manager, Interprofessional Practice, the Nursing Professional Practice Lead provides functional supervision to an assigned group of health-care professionals to ensure clinical competency, skill development, functional alignment, and collaborates with Program Managers to balance workloads and support the integration of their team across CASA's programs. The Professional Practice Lead incorporates evidence-informed, best practice models into clinical practice, and ensures clinical care remains consistent with CASA's policies and procedures. The Professional Practice Lead also plays a key role in organization initiatives, including but not limited to, patient intake/triage/transition, electronic medical record template development and training, program evaluation frameworks, and accreditation activities.
The Practice Lead, Nursing will:
- Ensure a holistic and high-quality model of assessment and treatment planning is consistently implemented within the assigned clinical disciplines members practice that is family-centered, trauma-informed and inclusive of biological, psychological, social and cultural factors.
- Support the delivery of high-quality clinical services by providing competency assessment, coaching, mentoring and clinical supervision to members of the assigned clinical discipline and support collaborative practice amongst the multi-disciplinary team.
- In collaboration with leadership, develop and maintain a competency framework, clinical program descriptions, clinical policies and procedures, and professional development for assigned team(s)/program(s), based on evidence, standards of care and relevant legislation and acts.
- Participate in employee recruitment, onboarding, performance management and offboarding under the assigned clinical discipline.
- Inform and train staff on CASA policy and practice regarding admission, discharge, data collection and clinical documentation related to assigned clinical discipline.
- Maintain information flow to Interprofessional Practice leadership, and Program Manager as applicable on issues that may affect service delivery or work environment.
- Identify clinical education needs and collaborate with clinical leadership to implement educational priorities.
- Encourage staff involvement in the supervision of students and learners at CASA.
- Provide leadership by identifying patient safety issues and initiating corrective action in consultation with staff.
- Model and encourage effective communication within and between teams to promote a safe, respectful and trusting workplace culture.
- Ensure the collection of evaluation and quality data
- Demonstrated excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence in all aspects of the discipline including clinical practice, supervision and education.
- Ability to work autonomously, independently and to prioritize work activities.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to new or unexpected situations, including flexibility in approach to interpersonal situations.
- Demonstrated analytic and problem-solving ability.
- Appreciation of interdisciplinary approach to mental illness.
- Ability to make evidence-based decisions.
- Ability to monitor clinical practice standards and relevant acts and legislation.
- Bachelor's degree or master's degree in related field.
- A minimum of five years clinical practice in child and family mental health and/or youth addictions.
- Must maintain active registration under the Health Professions Act.
- Must maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification (training provided by CASA) and be physically able to perform all interventions.
- Must have a valid driver's license, access to a vehicle and ability to travel between CASA sites across Alberta
