Your role

Based in Quebec City, you will report to the Senior Manager of News & Current Affairs, working as a Researcher/Reporter for the Service d'actualités regionals (SAR, regional news department). In this capacity, you will pitch relevant story and content ideas, develop original interview angles and identify compelling guests so as to meet the information needs of our audiences in Francophone Canada. Adaptability along with a strong ability to handle pressure and maintain a broad network of contacts are essential.

You should have a keen interest in national and international affairs, show strong attention to detail and possess excellent organizational skills. Your work must also comply with CBC/Radio-Canada's Journalistic Standards and Practices.

The schedule is weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., though working hours may vary to accommodate production requirements.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism or other relevant field.
  • Three years' journalism experience.

Skills:

  • Excellent knowledge of national and international affairs.
  • Extensive general knowledge.
  • Very good knowledge of research tools and techniques.
  • Adept at building connections to enhance the nationwide contact-sharing tool (Contacto).
  • Comfortable on-air presence, particularly on radio.
  • Resourceful self-starter who thrives in a team environment.
  • Ability to work well under pressure to tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of CBC/Radio-Canada's Journalistic Standards and Practices.
  • Excellent command of spoken and written French.
  • Intermediate oral and reading proficiency; beginner writing proficiency in English an asset.
  • Availability to work irregular hours.

  • Interview.
  • Testing.
