SolarSteam is a cleantech company on a mission to decarbonize industrial heat. We're developing modular solar thermal systems to reduce emissions in some of the world's most energy-intensive sectors. We're growing and we're looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong science, technology and engineering background in mechanical design, analysis, fabrication, and system modelling (2D & 3D) This role will be a key contributor in developing SolarSteam's Thermal and Utility modules, as well as installation.

What You'll Do
- Be a strong team player
- Support product design
- Accurate mechanical design calculations and analysis
- System sizing to create components, schedules, and system specifications
- Create engineering illustrations, diagrams, schematics, fabrication
- Create manufacturing shop drawings, 3D models
- Prepare bills of materials for SolarSteam's products
- Collaborate across electrical, process & controls teams
- Ensure compliance with APEGA
Reporting to: Robert Garth, Director of Technology
What You Bring
- P.Eng. (APEGA registered or eligible)
- 5+ years in mechanical engineering (thermal, power, O&G, renewables)
- Strong in thermodynamics & heat transfer
- Tools: Aspen HYSYS, Symmetry, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Revit (or equivalent)
- Bonus: Hands-on plant/power ops experience
- Must have legal right to work in Canada
Does This Sound Like You?
- P.Eng. (APEGA registered or eligible)
- Expertise in problem analysis, problem-solving and design thinking
- Effective technical communication skills, both oral and written
- Ability to exercise independent judgement in methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
- Strategic thinker, able to prioritize and move easily from big picture thinking to detailed execution work
- Strong leadership, relationship management, and organizational planning skills in addition to technical knowledge
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
- Advanced computer skills
- Must have legal right to work in Canada
- 5+ years in mechanical engineering (thermal, power, O&G, renewables)
- 3+ years of experience with 3D CAD modeling and Finite Element Analysis
- STEM literacy
- Strong in thermodynamics & heat transfer
- Tools: Inventor, AutoCAD, SAM (or equivalent)
