Geoscape Contracting is a pioneer in the green industry specializing in landscape construction for many large commercial and urban developers, with projects spanning across the GTA. We dedicate ourselves to all aspects of commercial landscaping, including but not limited to; softscaping, hardscaping, grading, retaining walls, plant installation, sodding, terraseeding, park construction and trucking.

Nursery Labourer

Wage: $20.00/hour

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Maintain safety as number one priority in all daily activities;
• Conduct all business in a positive and professional fashion ensuring Geoscape's Core Values are being represented to the highest standards.
• Communicate effectively with Operations Manager
• Ensure all plant material is well maintained throughout operating season;
• Ensure all irrigation requirements are met throughout operating season, including weekends if required;
• Prepare soil; plant bulbs, seeds and cuttings; transplant seedlings and rooted cuttings
• Monitor plants for healthy growth and potential weed, insect, disease, and fertilizer problems in greenhouse crops
• Spray trees, shrubs, flowers and plants to prevent disease and pests, if applicable
• Position and regulate irrigation systems to water plants and fields
• Dig, cut and transplant trees, shrubs, flowers and plants and prepare them for sale/use
• May operate tractors and other machinery and equipment to fertilize, cultivate, harvest and spray fields and plants
• Maintain inventory and order materials as required
• Clean working areas.
• Be prepared to work outdoors in inclement weather;
• Help maintain and ensure organization of the Geoscape nursery;
• Perform winter prep and spring start up procedures;
• Actively engage in positive team culture and use Workplace to encourage team members and spread positivity;
• Participate in weekly Toolbox Talks;
• Ensure safety by identifying and eliminating hazards and reporting incidents and near misses immediately

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Some experience using hand tools and operating small machines;
• Problem solving & time management skills;
• Contributes to a team atmosphere;
• Demonstrates the ability to self-motivate;
• Ability to work calmly in a fast-paced environment.
