Insight Global is seeking a highly skilled
Senior Telecommunications Engineer
to lead governance, planning, design, commissioning, and maintenance of Operational Technology (OT) systems, including telecommunications, fiber, radio, and SCADA.

As the subject matter expert and Engineer of Record, you will drive telecom projects, support capital initiatives such as new substations and grid upgrades, and develop and maintain OT standards and fiber maintenance programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee design, implementation, and maintenance of OT systems (telecom, fiber, radio, SCADA).
  • Act as Engineer of Record for telecommunications projects.
  • Support capital projects, including substations and grid modernization.
  • Develop and maintain OT standards and fiber maintenance plans.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues and ensure system reliability.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and risks.
  • Supervise and mentor technologists.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Operations, Asset Management, Cybersecurity) and external partners to deliver efficient, future-ready communications infrastructure.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Professional Engineering designation: Eligible or registered as a P.Eng, or at minimum EIT with EGBC.
  • Extensive experience: 8–10 years in telecommunications engineering, ideally in a utility environment.
  • Operational Technology expertise: Strong knowledge of engineering, design, operations, and maintenance of OT systems (telecom, SCADA, radio, fiber).
  • Project management proficiency: Ability to manage budgets, schedules, and risks using project management principles.
  • Analytical and communication skills: Skilled in troubleshooting complex issues and collaborating effectively with stakeholders.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience in planning, project management, and developing standards or programs.
  • Proven ability to supervise and mentor technical staff.
