Research Associates:
Under the general direction of, and in collaboration with researchers and faculty members, positions at this level apply extensive knowledge in their field to perform high-level, complex research activities, and will normally hold a Master's degree. Individuals with training beyond a Master's degree who have limited experience may also be appointed into this classification level.
Position Overview:
The employee will contribute to completing a study of the socio-economic benefits of inland freshwater fishing in Manitoba and Saskatchewan, funded by Indigenous Services Canada (ISC). The employee will be expected to gather existing responses to a survey the research team has designed, inputting them into a database, collecting additional responses from individuals in partner communities, conduct literature reviews, and organize community visits. Some travel may be required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Recruit research participants.
- Transcribe audio recordings and input paper-based responses for completed interviews.
- Conduct high-level and complex academic research and literature searches.
- Collect and manage research data.
- Organize visits to partner communities.
- Identify and assist in securing funding opportunities.
- Perform other duties, including administrative support, as required or assigned.
Qualifications:
- PhD, or Master's with equivalent qualifications and experience.
- Experience conducting independent research.
- Experience leading research projects.
- Analytical and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication skills.

- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
