Hybrid Job
: This job offers the opportunity to work from home as part of a hybrid work arrangement. This arrangement will allow you to work some days at a TCHC work location and the rest of the time from home. The amount of time required to work at a TCHC work location is flexible, while considering operational and service delivery requirements.
Make a difference
As a member of the Toronto Community Housing Development Division, the Associate Construction Manager will work in an integrated project team of other building professionals in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of interaction with large numbers of project stakeholders (government, business and community partners; design and engineering consultants; builders and tradespeople; TCHC tenants and staff; etc.) to assist in the coordination and management of design and construction activities of various TCHC revitalization projects in a manner that aligns with TCHC's tenant-focused culture.
These are large, dynamic and complex projects where existing TCHC communities located across the GTA are significantly restructured/rebuilt into high density, mixed-income and mixed-tenancy neighborhoods. Projects are typically a combination of high-rise and low-rise buildings with rental, affordable ownership, market 'for-sale" housing units, and various commercial retail, office and indoor and outdoor recreational components. Project values range from $3 million to $130+ million; they are subject to various high performance criteria, including the current Toronto Green Standards; Energy Star; or other, such as Passive House.
The Associate Construction Manager, reporting to the Senior Construction Manager, is responsible for defining, administering and managing the Quality Assurance and Quality Control aspects of the development and construction processes to ensure best value for public money, and to deliver high quality, tenant-centric buildings and communities.
There is a strong preference for a member of the OAA, or OAA Intern Architect, with extensive experience in multi-unit residential buildings: This position will assist in overseeing all matters relating to the architectural design and construction of new social housing buildings and communities, as well as the day-to-day administration of the design and construction work through all phases of the project, from concept design to post-occupancy. The objectives of the project need to be communicated to a wide range of people on a daily basis; the successful candidate must therefore demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
