Dishwasher / Prep Cook — Alebrije Restaurant (Harbord Village)

We're looking for an experienced and reliable Dishwasher / Prep Cook to join the kitchen team at Alebrije, a modern Mexican restaurant located in Harbord Village. Our menu celebrates bold flavours, seasonal Ontario produce, and the craft of contemporary Mexican cuisine.

Position Overview

This role combines dishwashing and prep responsibilities, working closely with the kitchen team to maintain cleanliness, assist with daily preparation, and support smooth service. The ideal candidate has prior experience in a professional kitchen and takes pride in keeping things organized, clean, and efficient.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain the dishwashing station to a high standard
  • Assist with prep tasks: washing, chopping, portioning, labeling, and organizing ingredients
  • Keep kitchen and storage areas clean and well-maintained
  • Receive and store deliveries properly (FIFO procedures)
  • Support cooks and chefs during prep and service
  • Follow all health, safety, and food handling protocols

Requirements

  • Previous kitchen experience is required (dishwashing or prep cook)
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Punctual, dependable, and comfortable working evenings and weekends
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Positive attitude and team mindset
