Overview:

Alexandra Marine and General Hospital operates Huron Community Mental Health Services ("HCMHS"), a mental health organization that welcomes individuals 16 years of age and over seeking treatment for their mental health through individual and group treatment services. As a member of the interdisciplinary team at HCMHS, the Counselling and Treatment Clinician provides therapeutic programming (both individual and group based) to support service users living with mental health challenges. The C+T clinician collaborates with the service user to develop patient-centred goals, conducts individual assessments, creates individualized treatment plans and delivers counselling and group based treatment to promote mental health and socio-emotional well-being. Our programs promote stability, recovery, resilience and community integration by focusing on each service user's strengths, interests and goals.

Qualifications:

• Registered Social Worker, Psychotherapist, Occupational Therapist or similar
• Current registration, in good standing, with an approved College, in the designated profession, in Ontario
• Demonstrated competence in the application of diagnostic and treatment procedures in a Mental Health setting
• Demonstrated knowledge of the etiology and treatment of depressive and anxiety disorders
• Extensive knowledge of community-based resources
• Experience in individual and group counselling and treatment planning

• Strong time management, prioritization and organization skills to effectively address multiple tasks/duties and timelines in a fast-paced outpatient clinical environment
• Ability to use independent judgement and maintain confidentiality of records, actions, and information
• Demonstrated competence in counseling, problem solving and mental health assessment skills
• Demonstrated competence in providing individual and group therapy to mental health patients
• Demonstrated competence in providing comprehensive psychiatric assessments and treatment plans
• Ability to work with patients and families in crisis
• Ability to provide consultation to physicians, nursing staff and allied health professionals
• Ability to provide clear, concise documentation and record keeping
• Ability to perform as a self-directed, motivated, multi-disciplinary team player with a commitment to evidenced based, best practices
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing education in mental health and addictions
• Access to reliable transportation and ability to work as assigned in all Huron Community Mental Health Services locations
