Power Study Electrical Engineer

Summary of responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Manager of the Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering Department, the Power Study Electrical Engineer will play a key role in the design and development of both local and international mining projects. More specifically, he will be called upon to:

  • Conduct protection and coordination studies for high and medium voltage systems, including arc-flash hazard analyses, ensuring compliance to the local safety standards.
  • Develop and prepare detailed engineering documentation for power generation, transmission, and distribution systems, with a focus on high and medium voltage networks.
  • Design single-line diagrams, equipment specifications, and control diagrams for electrical networks, supported by comprehensive calculation notes and reports.
  • Collaborate in the preparation of detailed layout plans and schematics for electrical substations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in a similar role, including the completion of power studies.
  • Good understanding of harmonic currents.
  • Experience in the mining sector and/or international projects are important assets.
  • Be a member in good standing of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec (O.I.Q.) or of another Canadian province, or eligible to be.
  • Be able to communicate in French and English.
  • Have a good knowledge of ETAP and CYME software series.
  • Comfortable with medium and high voltage.
  • Proficient with the Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • The position will be based at the G Mining Services office in Brossard and/or working from home.
  • Possibility of working in hybrid mode (office and remote work)
  • Possibility of travelling abroad and in Canada depending on the availability of the candidate.
