Your Mission Brief

WOLF Advanced Technology is on the hunt for
a full-time Sr. Engineer, Hardware, SBC
to join our high-performance product development team in
Aurora, ON (hybrid).

Reporting to the Sr. Engineer, Technology: SBC & Embedded Security Solutions, you'll play a mission-critical role in designing rugged single board computing solutions that power aerospace and defence systems worldwide.

As Sr. Engineer, Hardware, SBC at WOLF, you might…

  • Design and innovate:
    Translate complex requirements into schematic designs for rugged embedded systems that meet strict aerospace and defence standards
  • Collaborate cross-functionally:
    Partner with PCB, firmware, software, and mechanical engineers to integrate components into seamless, mission-ready products
  • Drive performance:
    Evaluate high-speed interfaces, power distribution networks, and advanced GPUs/SoCs to push the limits of computing in extreme environments
  • Validate reliability:
    Plan and execute compliance testing, thermal characterization, and bring-up to ensure flawless performance under MIL-STD conditions
  • Advance technology:
    Research and integrate cutting-edge video, AI acceleration, and interconnect solutions into next-generation designs
  • Document with precision:
    Create and review detailed specifications, schematics, and BOMs that align with aerospace standards and internal processes

Your Edge

With a
Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering
and
8+ years of experience designing mixed-signal hardware systems
, you're ready to take ownership of complex schematic design and drive innovation in rugged single board computing. You've built your career in the aerospace and defence space, developing
high-speed circuits and embedded solutions
that meet uncompromising standards for performance and reliability.

You bring proven expertise in
schematic-level design
,
high-speed interfaces (PCIe, DDR4, GDDR6)
, and advanced video standards such as
HDMI, DisplayPort, and SMPTE
, not just at the user level but in creating the interfaces that make them work. Your designs consistently align with rigorous requirements, including
MIL-STD-810, DO-160
, and
IPC standards
, ensuring products can withstand the harshest environments. With hands-on experience in rugged computing form factors like
VPX
and
XMC
, and awareness of
SOSA
for the U.S. market, you know how to translate demanding specs into practical, high-performance hardware that powers mission-critical systems.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Tool expertise:
    Proficiency with Cadence OrCAD, Allegro PCB Editor, and related schematic/layout tools, with the flexibility to adapt and learn new platforms
  • Protocol knowledge:
    Strong understanding of serial communication standards including UART, SPI, I2C, and CAN Bus
  • PCB awareness:
    Understanding of how schematic-level decisions impact PCB routing, manufacturability, and cost
  • Standards knowledge:
    Familiarity with aerospace and defence requirements including MIL-STD-810, DO-160, and IPC
  • Cross-functional mindset:
    Ability to collaborate seamlessly with PCB, firmware, mechanical, and production engineers to deliver integrated solutions
  • Problem-solving approach:
    Analytical skills to evaluate trade-offs, avoid assumptions, and dig into specifications to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Communication skills:
