Job Summary

This is a salary position working 35 hours a week. The position will oversee the day-to-day operations, staff assignments and direction for two residential programs in Surrey, with the SHSS program to ensure the outcomes of the program. The Manager provides planning, coordination and administration and provides support to the SHSS programs in Surrey.

The Manager is required:

· To be familiar with and adhere to the procedures and policies of the agency.

· To be familiar and skilled in working with Children and Youth living with Autism or are on the Spectrum.

· To deliver the program services in accordance with government standards, acts, regulations and licensing requirements.

· To set an example for others through personal behavior which is respectful of others and which models professional ethics.

· To work towards a common vision and uphold the mission statement and philosophy of the agency.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Lead development of the SHSS Service Plan in collaboration with the child or youth and their SHSS Care Circle. Perform applied behavior analysis and mental health support based on the child's individual needs.

  2. Provides supervision that supports consistent quality service, including supporting Service Provider Personnel and Subcontractors with implementation of strategies established in children and youth's SHSS Service Plan.

  3. Leads development of the child's and youth's transition plan (per the SHSS Service Plan), drawing on other experts where necessary and in collaboration with Guardianship Workers (if applicable).

  4. Coordinates the child's and youth's care team to ensure integrated and holistic assessment and planning.

  5. Provides leadership, guidance and participates with Service Provider Personnel and Subcontractors, families and others in planning and providing client plans, case conferencing, case management and the preparation of related documents and reports.

  6. Facilitates training for Service Provider Personnel and Subcontractors.

  7. Facilitates access to supplemental services to support children, youth, their families, and the Service Provider Personnel and Subcontractors.

  8. Liaises with the community, government, families, officials, and professionals and promotes community involvement in the program.

  9. Develop, implement and evaluate SHSS goals, objectives and procedures. Ensure that required standards are followed.

  10. Hires and supervises staff and monitors daily residence operations.

  11. Evaluates the performance of staff and identifies staff development needs.

  12. Provides leadership and guidance to staff in the provision of youth case conferencing, case planning and case management.

  13. Supports residents in achieving their outcomes. Delivers "front line" services including: behavior management; receiving referrals; orienting consumers; interviewing and assisting consumers; referring on to additional resources where appropriate; and providing situational counseling.

  14. Responsible for the maintenance, cleanliness and safety of the residence. Responsible for the purchase and inventory of food and household supplies and/or supervising the delegation of these duties. This could include creating and developing new resources for youth within the agency following a SHSS model.

  15. Monitors spending to adhere to operating budget allotments.

  16. Acts as a liaison with the community and promotes/encourages community understanding and/or involvement in the program. Provides liaison with government officials, and related professionals. Maintains open communication with resident's families.

  17. Acts or designates staff health and safety representative.

  18. Performs other related duties as required. *

Qualifications:

A minimum of a 4-year relevant degree or equivalent of education/experience working with children and youth with behavioral, attachment and other needs from a trauma-informed lens.

3 years recent related experience, including 1 year supervisory or administrative experience (or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience).

Specific training in behavioral modification, attachment-based parenting, harm reduction, cultural safety, first aid, crisis intervention and relationship-based interventions (Trauma-informed practice).

Specific program, legislative/policy, provincial and other government frameworks and systems, labor relations or professional knowledge may be required depending on individual agency requirements.

Skills:

· Good oral, written and interpersonal communications skills.

· Demonstrated leadership skills.

· Thorough knowledge of program issues.

· Interviewing and assessment skills.

· Familiarity with use of computers and other electronic devices.

· Computer and basic software program knowledge (Windows, Teams, Excel)

· Basic understanding of budgets, finance and ability to learn payroll systems.

Requirements:

· Successfully complete and pass Criminal Record Review to work with vulnerable children.

· First Aid Certification with CPR training.

· Clearance through Ministry for Children and Families Hub Clearance.

· Covid Vaccination.

· Class 5 Driver's license.

Additional Information:

This position sometimes requires staff to work in a stressful environment dealing with youth in crisis or behavioral dysregulation. The manager will have an ability to function independently and frequently under pressure, including managing emergencies, and staff. Some flexible scheduling may occur which would include evenings, holidays and weekends.
