What you'll be doing

This position is responsible for safely operate company vehicles while transporting goods and materials for Customers pickup and delivery in Southern Ontario predominantly and occasionally to Port Huron, MI as occasional vacation coverage. The Local Driver will be required to load and unload their truck daily as well assist with warehouse duties on occasion. Cross Border ability is not mandatory but would be an extreme asset if the candidate is willing and able.

You will be responsible for

  • Operate straight trucks to transport goods and materials in a safe and timely manner.
  • Comply with applicable legislation including carriage of goods, driver's hours of service, occupational health and safety, transportation of goods, customs and immigration and weights and dimensions.
  • Check all cargo related documentation, and record hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption.
  • Perform pre-trip, en-route and post-trip inspection, report any issues and oversee all aspects of safe operation of the vehicle.
  • Effectively use cross-border and e-logs software.
  • Assist in loading and unloading trucks
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate your meticulous attention to detail by ensuring accuracy and decision making.
  • Driven by results working in a fast paced environment. 
  • Maintain a well-organized calendar to balance meetings, tasks, and future initiatives.
  • Provide exceptional customer support by addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly and effectively.

What we need from you

  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
  • 4+ years of experience as a DZ Truck Driver.
  • Able to lift up to 100 pounds.
  • DZ license required.
  • AZ license would be an asset.
  • Defensive Driving Course (Asset).
  • Excellent problem- solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must comply with insurance providers requirements in order to operate.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to perform routine vehicle maintenance (Asset).
  • Must be legally eligible to work for the Company at all times.
  • Valid Passport and ability and desire to occasionally travel if required to other offices locations in Canada/USA.
