Bready Cafe is opening a new location at Vaughan Mills, and we're looking for a full-time Kitchen Manager to lead our BOH team. Qualifications

  • Experience: You have 1+ year of experience as a Kitchen Supervisor or in a similar lead cook/chef role (café environment preferred). You have a proven experience leading a team – this role is ideal for someone who has supervised a kitchen and is eager to move up.
  • Attitude & Growth Mindset: Positive, hands-on attitude with a willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities.   • Adaptability: You thrive in a fast-paced environment and can stay calm under pressure.
  • Problem-solving skills: You can handle last-minute challenges in the kitchen.
  • Leadership Skills: You have excellent leadership and communication skills. Able to motivate, direct, and support a kitchen staff to work as an efficient team. Experience in training or coaching team members is a huge plus.
  • Organizational Skills: Outstanding organizational and time-management abilities. Capable of managing prep schedules, multitasking during busy service, and maintaining an orderly kitchen.
  • Food Safety Knowledge: Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices. Valid Food Handler Certification is required.
  • Availability: Open availability for full-time hours. Willingness to work mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Lead & Support Staff: Lead the kitchen team during service, providing guidance and support. Coordinate staff duties, delegate tasks, and maintain a positive, productive work environment.
  • Oversee Kitchen Operations: Supervise daily food prep and cooking activities to ensure smooth, efficient service and timely, quality output.
  • Train & Develop: Train and mentor kitchen staff in proper cooking techniques, hygiene practices, and recipe preparation. Foster a culture of continuous learning and teamwork so that everyone performs at their best.
  • Maintain Cleanliness & Safety: Manage kitchen cleanliness and organization, enforcing strict sanitation and food safety standards at all times. Ensure compliance with health regulations and proper food handling procedures.
  • Quality Control: Ensure all dishes meet our quality standards for taste, presentation, and portion size. Monitor cooking times and food temperatures to guarantee every plate is prepared and served correctly.
  • Inventory Management: Keep the kitchen fully stocked by monitoring inventory levels of ingredients and supplies. Assist with ordering and receiving shipments to prevent shortages or waste.
