Position Summary
The Senior Residence Worker is the shift lead responsible for the safe and effective provision of youth programming activities and service delivery in the Full Time Attendance Program (FTAP), including providing orientation, training, work direction and guidance to frontline staff. Foundational to this role is youth relationship-building and behavior management, supporting participants through a trauma informed lens, placing priority on participant safety, empowerment and skill development. This position demonstrates the active pursuit of intentional practice with a focus on outcomes and results. The Senior Residence Worker leads by example applying the Agency's Core Values and Code of Ethics to guide decision-making and professional behaviour. This position is a 1 year term, maternity leave cover contract.

Wage: $29.85/hour
Status: Temporary 1 Year Term – Maternity Leave Cover
Location: Greater Victoria Region
Shift & Hours: Monday 7:30am-3:30pm
Tuesday 7:30am-3:30pm
Wednesday: 1:00pm-9:00pm
Thursday 7:30am-3:30pm
Friday: 7:30am-3:30pm

Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction to program staff during shifts, including scheduling, delegation, training, and on-the-spot coaching.
- Act as shift lead in the absence of the manager, supporting residential operations and decision-making.
- Maintain a caseload of 1–2 youth, guiding them from intake through discharge, including assessment, goal setting, and service planning.
- Develop and deliver individualized, curriculum-based and experiential programming that supports youth development and positive behaviour change.
- Foster a safe, respectful, and supportive environment using trauma-informed, strengths-based, and pro-social approaches.
- Support youth in complying with probation conditions and attending mandatory appointments and activities.
- Collaborate closely with Care Families and natural supports to ensure coordinated service delivery and consistent communication.
- Facilitate recreational, cultural, and skill-building opportunities to enhance social integration and personal growth.
- Participate in case management meetings, clinical supervision, and contribute to individualized care planning.
- Oversee medication management procedures and support youth self-administration.
- Perform routine residential duties, including housekeeping, meal preparation, and basic property maintenance.
- Participate in the after-hours on-call rotation, providing crisis support and guidance to staff, youth, and families.
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation including case notes, reports, risk assessments, and critical incident reporting.
- Support risk management practices including safety planning, suicide risk assessments, and emergency response procedures.
- Build strong working relationships with community partners, including probation officers, healthcare providers, and referral agencies.
- Monitor and provide informal feedback to front-line staff; contribute to performance evaluations and staff development planning.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant standards (e.g., CARF), policies, and legislation, contributing to audits and quality assurance activities.
- Manage and track program resources, supplies, and budgets according to purchasing protocols.
- Contribute to agency-wide initiatives, special events, and community engagement activities as required.

Minimum Qualifications
- Post secondary diploma in, Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Criminal Justice, Recreation, Education or equivalent combination of education &experience
- 2 years' experience supervising in a residential facility
- Basic First Aid/CPR C certification
- Knowledge of mental health and substance use
- Class 5 Driver's Licence; clean driver's abstract – transportation of youth is required
