Dauphin Ford, a medium-sized Ford automotive dealership in rural Manitoba, is seeking an Assistant Parts Manager. This key developmental role offers a clear flow-through opportunity to become our next Parts Manager.

You will work closely with the current Parts Manager, gaining hands-on experience and strategic oversight of the Parts Department. This role places a strong emphasis on team leadership, expert inventory management, and operational efficiency. We're looking for someone passionate about parts, who values teamwork, and is eager to grow into a management role, fostering strong relationships across Service, Sales, technicians, and customers.

Key Responsibilities - As Assistant Parts Manager, you will:

  • Team Leadership & Support: Assist in overseeing all Parts Department operations, guiding Parts Advisors, and ensuring smooth administrative and workflow processes. Contribute to a positive, collaborative team culture that prioritizes excellent customer service.
  • Inventory Management Excellence: Actively manage inventory levels (mins/max), turns, and replenishment to ensure optimal parts availability. Develop and implement strategies to increase turnover and minimize dormant/obsolete stock, becoming an expert in inventory control.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities and assist in developing and implementing enhanced processes for efficiency, effectiveness, and exceptional customer service, emphasizing team synergy.
  • Financial & Strategic Planning: Support monthly analysis of parts sales, costs, inventory data, and department expenses. Collaborate on strategic planning to meet and exceed revenue and profit objectives, including contributing to the annual budget.
  • Customer & Client Relations: Support efforts to maintain and grow wholesale and retail customer bases. Ensure excellent communication with internal (Service, Sales) and external customers, handling inquiries, complaints, and back-order updates efficiently.
  • Training & Development: Receive mentorship and assist with training programs to ensure the team maintains high proficiency across all product lines, developing your leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Operational Support: Support the management of parts returns, maximizing allowances. Ensure a safe, clean, and organized Parts area, diligently implementing Dauphin Ford safety procedures.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Team Mindset: Proven experience in a collaborative team environment with genuine enthusiasm for teamwork and leadership potential.
  • Inventory Experience: Previous experience in parts/inventory management, parts sales, or related automotive roles.
  • Customer Service Commitment: Strong understanding of superior customer service.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient with computers; PBS experience is an asset.
  • Organizational Excellence: Detail-oriented with strong prioritization and organizational skills, particularly for inventory.
  • Passion for Automotive: Knowledge of and genuine interest in the automotive industry, with Ford experience being an asset.
  • Growth Mindset: Self-starter eager to learn new systems, processes, and develop management skills.
  • Physical Capability: Capable of lifting and moving merchandise.
