The Lasting Lab is a youth-led, community-driven initiative dedicated to empowering immigrant, refugee, and first-generation youth and young adults (15+) of all genders. Based in Canada with an international reach, we create safe, inclusive spaces where young people can learn, lead, and grow together.

Our work focuses on youth leadership, community engagement, education access, and skill-building through hands-on involvement. Through programs such as the Youth Congress, committees, mentorship, and partnerships with trusted institutions, The Lasting Lab supports young people in developing confidence, leadership skills, and a strong sense of belonging.

We are currently seeking committed volunteers to support the growth and impact of our community through partnership-building, communication, and mentorship.

Role Description

The Communications & Social Media Lead is responsible for overseeing messaging and content across The Lasting Lab's platforms. This role ensures that all communication is youth-friendly, inclusive, ethical, and aligned with the organization's mission.

You will collaborate with youth members and committees to amplify youth voices and promote programs, events, and initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Oversee and support social media content and communications
  • Ensure messaging is inclusive, accessible, and youth-centered
  • Collaborate with the Social Media & Storytelling Committee

Support the promotion of events, workshops, and initiatives

  • Strong interpersonal skills and proficient in community engagement
  • Exceptional communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Experience in customer service and community management
  • Ability to establish and sustain collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Strong organizational and event management skills
  • Passion for youth, community inclusion, and development
  • Proficiency in additional languages and knowledge of the immigrant or refugee experience are assets
  • Relevant educational qualifications or professional experience in community development, social work, or related fields
  • Interest or experience in community engagement, outreach, or partnerships

Commitment & Structure

  • All roles are
    volunteer-based
  • Flexible time commitment depending on availability
  • Hybrid participation with occasional virtual meetings
  • Support and onboarding provided
