Leadership Responsibilities

The Inpatient Clinical Manager will :

  • Be part of a team that embraces diversity with a multicultural population.
  • Have a strong foundation of both clinical practices and business acumen including a strong understanding of core operations, finance, and clinical skills required for oncology care and services.
  • Foster a shared leadership culture to ensure the highest quality of care is delivered by the inter-professional team in collaboration with the Clinical Educator and Physician Leaders.
  • Oversee the effective management of patient flow and discharge planning and be accountable for identifying barriers to patient care needs and creating solutions.
  • Organize and prioritize work of the patient care team.
  • Recognize, assess and mitigate risks related to patient care and patient and staff/physician safety.
  • Review, analyze and apply program performance data to support decision-making and continuous quality improvement.
  • Manage all aspects of employee relations including human resource planning; recruitment, performance management; coaching/mentoring and professional development.
  • Responsible for the integration of innovation and research based findings into daily patient care practices in partnership with Professional staff and Clinical Nurse Educators to improve practice and care delivery and participate in/lead evidenced based practice projects.
  • Actively support the development of the Oncology Program through engagement with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Facilitate interdepartmental collaboration and integrated processes between inpatient and outpatient oncology services.
  • Assure continuity of care as patient's transition across the continuum through appropriate patient education and coordination of hospital and community services.
  • Demonstration of Transformational Leadership qualities will be an asset to effectively lead others during this unprecedented time in healthcare (Peers, staff, patients, & families) in order to meet the demands and accountabilities of an evolving health care system.
  • Train, coach and assist team members to ensure optimum patient care and efficient use of resources.
  • Collaborate with others for the development and implementation of quality and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure integration of safety and quality standards into practice and delivery of team based care.

Qualifications

  • A Baccalaureate degree in Nursing or Health disciplines - health administration, or a related program is required; Master's preferred.
  • Regulated Health Professional in good standing with applicable Regulatory College.
  • Demonstrated track record of building trust, and ability to foster a collaborative inter-professional team and patient/family approach to decision making.
  • A strong understanding of core healthcare business operations, finance, and clinical skills required for oncology care including knowledge of best practices and services is an asset.
  • Three years of formal or informal leadership experience, and at least 5 years relevant experience in a clinical inpatient or hospital based setting.
  • Proven leadership and management skills including flexibility, adaptability and ability to manage change. 
  • Demonstrates effectiveness in all categories of the LEADS framework at the management level
  • Superior communication, team building, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills within an interdisciplinary milieu.
  • Experience working within a unionized environment preferred
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English (multilingual fluency is an asset)
  • Knowledge of relevant health care and legislative standards/regulations e.g. public hospitals act, RHPA, AODA, ESA, OHSA, etc.
  • Ability to attend work on a regular basis required.
  • Onsite role 
  • Proven success in the development and implementation of strategic objectives including quality indicators, volume targets, and budget management.
  • Proven experience in leading collaboratively with physician partner(s).

Position Location and Travel: Travel between sites of Trillium Health Partners may be required.
