Community Support Worker – Casual and Part-Time Opportunities
We are seeking compassionate Community Support Workers to assist adults with developmental disabilities/PSI in community activities, skill-building, and social inclusion.
Part-Time Position Details
- 12 hours per week, with the possibility of increasing up to 18 hours/week.
- Current schedule: Mondays and Tuesdays, 9:00am–6:00pm.
- This particular position supports a young lady who enjoys community outings, visiting pets/animal-friendly locations, shopping centers, coffee shops, watching movies, art and craft activities, and spending time with energetic, friendly companions who share similar interests.
Casual Position Details
- On-call, flexible hours depending on your availability and program needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one or small group support in community settings (e.g., community outings).
- Support social interactions and participation in meaningful activities.
- Support the individual in achieving personal goals, developing life skills, and encouraging participation in community activities based on her preferences.
- Promote independence and confidence in public environments.
- Remind the individual to take their medication, if applicable.
- Ensure safety and dignity in all support interactions.
- Maintain respectful and professional communication with individuals, families, and team members.
- Write daily reports in the team communication app.
- Participate in team meetings, provide updates, and contribute to discussions regarding the individual as needed.
- Complete progress notes and documentation as required.
Skills & Requirements
- Experience and/or education supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, anxiety, or PSI eligibility (e.g., ASD or FASD).
- Valid Driver's License and reliable car.
- Current First Aid/CPR Certificate.
- Food Safe Certificate, if required by the program.
- Clear Criminal Record Check (including vulnerable sector).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong observation and report writing skills.
- Mandt or NCI (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention) training is an asset.
Job Types: Part-time, Casual
Pay: $22.00-$26.00 per hour
