About The Role
A leading Canadian organization within the financial services sector is seeking a Senior Manager, Financial Close & Technical Accounting to join its corporate accounting leadership team. This role offers high visibility, technical depth, and people leadership, acting as a key advisor to senior finance leadership on complex accounting matters and close execution.
Reporting into a senior finance leader, this position plays a critical role in supporting the financial close, providing technical accounting guidance, and strengthening team capability in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
What You'll Do
- Provide technical accounting guidance on complex transactions, judgments, and accounting interpretations
- Review and assess contracts and agreements to ensure appropriate accounting treatment and compliance with standards
- Lead and mentor a small team of experienced accounting professionals, supporting development and decision-making during close cycles
- Oversee key aspects of the monthly and quarterly financial close, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and consistency
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to resolve accounting issues and support financial reporting requirements
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to close processes, controls, and team structure
- Act as a trusted advisor to management, exercising judgment and autonomy on complex accounting matters
What You Bring
- CPA designation
- 5+ years of progressive experience in audit and/or corporate accounting, with strong exposure to technical accounting
- Demonstrated experience providing accounting guidance on complex or judgment-based issues
- Prior people leadership experience, including coaching and developing direct reports
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across finance and non-finance teams
- Comfortable operating in a lean environment with a high degree of ownership and independence
