The Ministry of Municipal Affairs assists municipalities in providing well-managed, collaborative, and accountable local government to Albertans.
Role Responsibilities- Lead Program and Policy Initiatives
Provide project leadership in analyzing and coordinating Alberta's new home buyer protections and builder licensing program. Take a lead role, with minimal supervision, in interpreting, evaluating, and implementing the
New Home Buyer Protection Act, associated regulations, and operational policies in alignment with departmental business plan objectives.
2. Manage Projects and Operational Improvements
Lead project work to ensure comprehensive input from subject matter experts and timely completion. Collaborate with program staff to deliver initiatives that enhance daily operations and address inquiries, questions,
and concerns from stakeholders and the public.
- Represent Program Interests and Engage Stakeholders
Ensure Residential Protection Program priorities related to consumer protection and builder licensing are effectively represented in public forums and educational materials. Facilitate advisory group operations and liaise
with stakeholders to translate government direction and stakeholder feedback into actionable program-level outcomes.
- Develop Policy Solutions and Legislative Recommendations
Analyze and address policy and legislative issues to meet current and future needs. Facilitate policy discussions and provide program insights that inform legislative recommendations. Work collaboratively with RPP
staff, other divisions, ministry partners, and external stakeholders to deliver projects that improve program operations.

QualificationsRequired
- Post-secondary education, such as a bachelor's or master's degree in political science, Economics, Business or Public Administration, or a related field; and 4 years of progressively responsible related experience is
required or equivalent as described below.
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
Assets
- Understanding of government regulatory frameworks, compliance and enforcement programs
- Solid understanding of the GOA policy cycle and decision-making process in government.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation including the New Home Buyers Protection Act, Safety Codes Act, and Insurance Act.
- Understanding of consumer protection policies, home construction regulatory framework, residential construction and real estate trends, warranty and insurance
- Proficiency in technical tools including M365 suite (Word, Excel (pivot tables, macros), SharePoint, OneNote, and Teams.
- Knowledge of Power Automate and Power BI
Skills and abilities:
- Strong networking, interpersonal, written, verbal and analytical skills. This includes the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Ministry and staff, other government contacts, and external
stakeholders.
- Ability to identify and monitor politically sensitive issues/trends and develop responses or recommendations.
- Ability to maintain a strategic, and division-wide focus while delivering results at the program level.
- Function independently and contribute effectively to a team environment.

This position is a Temporary position with the standard weekly work hours of 36.25, Monday to Friday (8:15 am – 4:30 pm).
