Virtual Design and Construction

The Roberts Onsite Mechanical division is searching for a high-performing and driven student who is interested in exploring 3D modelling. The Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Mechanical Designer Co-op position is located in Kitchener, Ontario and reports directly to the Mechanical Division Manager. Your Role and Essential Job Functions: 

• Bridge engineered concepts and schematics to installed systems;
• Review initial project layout and specifications;
• Refine and coordinate pipe routing using mechanical design and fabrication software, like REVIT & SysQue;
• With assistance, assess feasibility of fabrication design and installation; 
• Process the model through to our prefabrication and manufacturing shop to be fabricated;
• Assist the estimating department with preparation of estimates; 
• Work with our in-house trade groups to ensure effective fabrication;
• Participate in fabrication productivity tracking;
• Other duties as assigned;
• Act with the best interest of Roberts Onsite at all times.

 Education and Experience Requirements:

• Currently enrolled in Diploma or Degree program in mechanical or architectural construction engineering, or related field;
• Knowledge of mechanical systems is an asset, but not required;
• New graduates or upcoming graduates welcome to apply;

Software:

• Proficient in REVIT and AutoCAD;
  • Training will be provided for 3D scanning and transitioning the point cloud model into the REVIT software;
• Skilled user of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project) and Adobe Acrobat or Bluebeam;
• Accubid estimating software an asset, but will train.
