Hotel Equities, a multi-award-winning hotel development and hospitality management company, is currently searching for a remarkable Maintenance Tech for the Sawridge Inn Edmonton South, Edmonton AB, Canada.
Job Purpose:
The Maintenance is responsible for maintaining the overall operation of the maintenance department and the appearance and working order of the hotel, and is responsible for the administration of the company's maintenance and life safety programs to include purchasing, preventative maintenance, equipment repairs, hotel security and life safety and supervision of the maintenance department. Warm, knowledgeable service and helpful guidance reassure guests they've made the right choice to stay with us.
- Assist with preventive maintenance and complete report work orders such as replacing ceiling tiles, light bulbs, patching vinyl, etc. to maintain the hotel and keep the product quality standard
- Perform preventive maintenance assignments on a scheduled basis
- Assist in checking electrical systems such as air conditioning controls, television sets, lightning systems, and make minor repairs and/or replacement
- Assist in checking and making routine repairs and assist on major repairs of all hotel equipment including small appliances, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment's boilers, HVAC, hand and power tools and general plumbing systems and fixtures such as pipelines, toilets and sinks, kitchen and laundry equipment
- Provides guest room service/repair status to Frontdesk, Maintenance Manager and Housekeeping Manager.
- Performs general carpentry, tiling, painting, drywall and wall surface repairs
- Maintain the building exterior and "curb appeal" (e.g., snow removal, lawn care, painting, gardening)
- Ensure that all departmental reports, including maintenance log book are completed punctually and accurately
- Responds in a timely, courteous manner to guest questions, complaints, or requests
- Properly maintains tools, workspaces, and equipment
- Carry out maintenance duties allocated on a daily basis in accordance with departmental requirements contributing to the smooth running of departments and achieving guest satisfaction
- Assist with the testing of fire alarms, emergency lightning etc. on a routine basis in line with property policy
- Engage in flexible work schedules to be able to perform well during emergencies
- Completes preventive maintenance and maintain safe working conditions within the department and hotel
- Adheres to all work rules, procedures and policies established by the company.
- Any other special outside of the regular routines as may required
Qualifications and Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Knowledge of basis electrical and plumbing maintenance
- Experience with general maintenance tools
- Able to work days, evenings, including weekends and holidays
- Flexible and able to work under pressure
- Capable of lifting up to 50lbs
- Ability to push, pull bend, stood and reach upward
- Ability to tolerate exposure to extreme temperatures and cleaning chemicals
- Excellent communications skills, both verbally and written
- Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently

- Reading and writing abilities are used often when completing paperwork, logging issues/complaints/requests/ information updates, etc.
- Problem-solving, reasoning, motivating, and training abilities are often used.
- Have the ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and/or holidays
Starting Wage: CAD $19 to $23 per hour
