Position Purpose:

To produce a range of baked goods, from breads to quickbreads to cakes, pastries, cookies and other sweets, and prepares a variety of lunch menu items. Provide personable, efficient service to customers and fulfill other tasks in a manner in accordance to Origin Bakery's values, in order to facilitate a profitable business

Reports to : Assistant Manager/Front Supervisor, General Manager, and Owners

Responsibilities:

  • produce items on task lists as delegated by Lead Baker or Store Manager/Supervisor

  • follow recipes as specified, and record clarifications on recipe as needed

  • properly and carefully operate kitchen equipment and machinery

  • notify supervisor of low stock or changes in production/ingredients

  • ensure inventory is stored properly (ie - off the floor and organized)

  • record daily refrigeration and dishwasher temperatures, depending on shift

  • ensure appropriate ingredient prep is completed before next day's production

  • general cleaning may include vacuuming ingredient bins, washing down equipment, washing and storing dishes

  • maintain a tidy workspace, and ensure area is cleaned after tasks

  • attend shifts as outlined in the Human Resources Manual

  • complete tasks as outlined in the Front Manual

  • maintain cleanliness and appearance of retail section of bakery

  • ensure proper stock rotation, using the 'FIRST IN, FIRST OUT' system

  • inform supervisors when inventory is low

  • advise supervisors of customer complaints

  • communicate positively and effectively with co-workers and management*

  • other reasonable duties as assigned

    Position Requirements: (outside Origin's Employee Standards and Guidelines)

  • Serve it Right certification

  • Food safe certification

  • able to complete baking tasks as required

  • comfortable with written and spoken English

  • able to lift up to 25 kg without assistance

  • effective interpersonal and oral communication skills

  • able to maintain good rapport with customers and coworkers

  • positive attitude and willingness to learn

Pay: $18.47-$19.12 per hour
