The Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Canada are currently seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to fill a position vacancy as a:
Position Summary: The Director of Retreat Ministries will offer inspired leadership to the operations of our Retreat Centres, nurturing an environment of welcome, presence, and hospitality aligned with the spirituality and values of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Canada. These Centres include Villa St. Joseph Ecology and Spiritualty Centre (Cobourg, on the Lake Ontario shoreline), and Stillpoint House of Prayer (Burnstown, along the Madawaska River). While a presence at both locations is important, the Villa in Cobourg will be your home location, travel expectations are flexible and designed to support work-life harmony, with occasional in-person time with Stillpoint in Burnstown.
Rooted in relational integrity and guided by a deep respect for the Sacred, the Earth, Nature, and community, this role invites an individual who can help foster a spirit of unity and reflection in all dimensions of the retreat experience.
Skills You Bring:
· Education in Theology, Eco-spirituality, Ministry, Religious Education, or a related field, preferably a Master's degree or equivalent experience;
· A passion for, and experience developing eco-conscious practices and sustainable initiatives;
· Demonstrated experience in leading or creating spiritual and reflective programming for diverse communities;
· Event planning and resource coordination skills;
· A warm and grounded presence with strong interpersonal and communication abilities;
· Comfort with digital tools to collaborate and connect with the organization and local communities.
Collaborative Partnerships: This role actively engages with Universities, inter-spiritual groups, and other community partners to promote aligned programming and cultivate enriching experiences. We're excited to build bridges and partnerships aligned with our mission.
Work Environment: Our Centres are peaceful, natural spaces that support healing and reflection. Weekend and flexible scheduling required depending on retreat programming. Physical involvement in setting up events and general hospitality is part of our hands-on approach.
