Legatum estate litigation
 is a law firm that focuses on estate disputes. The work we do is consequential for our clients and assists in clarifying the law for families in crisis (see our recent decisions:

We are currently seeking a 
litigation lawyer
 to join our team. This is a full-time position. It is primarily an in-office position with some flexibility to work remotely. 
Legatum's office is in Abbotsford, B.C.
 and is walking distance from the new City of Abbotsford court house.

Legatum is a tight knit team with a collaborative culture. Our objective is to help clients find solutions to their legal problems that allow them move on with their lives. As a part of an honoured profession, Legatum promotes respect for the legal system and our colleagues at the bar and on the bench.

Requirements:

Estate disputes are very often fueled by non-law related causes: often deep family hurts that have festered for decades. Therefore, the ideal candidate must not only have the ability to identify these non law related causes, they must have the ability to have a 15-minute conversation with that one relative every family member avoids at holiday gatherings.

Litigation experience is preferred, however collaboration and mentorship is a focus of our firm in particular for newer calls. The ideal candidate will be a team player who is self-motivated and a problem solver. As with any litigation position, exceptional communication skills are a prerequisite.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A Bachelor of Laws (LLB or JD) from an accredited law school;

  • A practicing member in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia;

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;

  • Experience conducting legal research using Lexis-Nexis or similar tools;

  • Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide sound advice;

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
