Instructor Therapist Support Position

Our teachers work together to ensure that all children-from gifted students to average learners to those needing more support-are taught in ways that enable them to succeed. This flexibility in determining what works best for each student is admired and appreciated by our parents.

Roles and Responsibilities:

· Providing direct support to one student in a primary grade classroom.

· Provide in-class and out of class programming to student

· Supporting intervention through a lens of supporting P.D.A.

· Implementing ABA programming as directed by a RBA

· Supporting the accommodation and modification of curricular expectations in the moment.

· Providing reinforcement of learning, regulation and social skills.

· Providing out of class instruction / support in collaboration with the homeroom teacher.

· Collecting data and communicating data to the other members of the therapy team.

· Maintaining productive working habits and discipline in the classroom.

· Discussing students' progress with parents and guardians, administrators and other professionals as necessary.

· Other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Attributes

· Experience with neurodiverse learning profiles and ASD is a must.

· Experience with Pathological Demand Avoidance an asset.

· Proven experience in a centre-based or school environment under the supervision of a BCBA / RBA.

· Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills.

· Post Secondary Education in Autism and behavioural science or a comparable program.

· Experience working in a school and in a special education environment.

· Evidence of building a strong rapport with children and parents.

· Experience supporting students working on regulatory skills.

· Demonstrates patience and flexibility.

· Demonstrate a passion for ongoing learning and professional development.

· Has an aptitude for differentiated learning styles and approaches.

· Creative in approaching and engages students with a range of learning styles.

· Ability to work independently, as well as part of the teaching team.

· Ability to work flexibly and to adapt in a constantly changing and thriving environment.

· Demonstrated talent for teaching, coaching, mentoring and inspiring students.

· Proven ability to develop smooth, collaborative working relationships with parents and colleagues.

· Evidence of strong written and oral communication and organizational skills.

Salary: Hourly rate between $28 - $35 / hour

Hours: Hours Organized Between 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
