The Position
Reporting to the Director, Finance who serves as a key link between the Financial Planning & Analysis and Financial Reporting functions within the Corporate Finance team.

The Senior Financial Analyst, FP&A will be responsible for supporting the preparation of consolidated budgets and forecasts, and for analyzing monthly, quarterly and annual financial results to provide insights that drive business decisions. This role provides an opportunity to work in a growing company in a highly visible position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and consolidate monthly financial reports, including variance commentary and insights for management.
  • Support the quarterly rolling forecast process by analyzing operating results against budget and providing input for Senior Management review.
  • Contribute to the annual strategic business planning process, including consolidation and review of operational budgets and development of the annual corporate budget.
  • Prepare internal management reports with in-depth variance analysis against budget and forecast for Senior Leadership.
  • Collaborate with the Finance team during the monthly, quarterly and annual close process and assist with reporting requirements for external stakeholders and investors.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy of financial reporting.
  • Partner with the Financial Systems team to support financial system implementations and upgrades, including system testing and execution of cutover activities.
  • Participate in special projects and ad hoc analyses as required.

Skills And Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance or closely related field required;
  • CPA designation or CFA designation.
  • 3-5 years of related work experience in financial planning & analysis (FP&A) and reporting
  • Mining experience is an asset but is not required.
  • Advanced user of Excel (Pivot tables, formulas, graphs, v-lookups, links between spreadsheets).
  • Strong Analytical skills, excellent attention to detail and ability to collaborate cross functionally.
  • Self-starter with a willingness to take on increasing responsibilities and the ability to work under pressure.

Workplace Conditions

  • Corporate head office, located in downtown Toronto, Ontario
  • Attention to work issues in the evening or on the weekend
  • Some travel is required
