Location: Seneca Polytechnic (All Campuses, as required)
Employment Status: Full-Time
Hours: - Monday to Friday Variable)
Pay Rate: - $22 - $23.50
Reports To: Security Program Manager

Position Overview
At Seneca, learning is at the core of everything we do—including security. As a Field Training Officer, you'll be empowered to train, mentor, and inspire the next generation of campus security professionals, using real-world scenarios and the latest best practices.
Your Impact
FTOs directly shape the quality and culture of the security team, ensuring every guard and leader is equipped for success on campus and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver structured onboarding and site-specific training to all newly hired security staff during their probationary period (first 90 days)Ensure completion of all required online training from both the security provider and Seneca PolytechnicConduct scenario-based training aligned with current campus trends, risks, and recurring incidentsProvide hands-on coaching, mentoring, and real-time corrective instructionEvaluation & Performance Monitoring
Conduct formal evaluations of trainees and document performance outcomesTrack training progress and report KPI-related findings to the ECMMonitor employee performance during probation and flag deficiencies earlySupport supervisors during probationary reviews, post-incident assessments, and remedial trainingCompliance & Readiness
Ensure all guards are properly licensed, uniformed, and equipped with required PPE and toolsVerify training compliance with contractual, legislative, and client requirementsReport all training deficiencies, licensing issues, or compliance concerns to the ECM and Security Services AdministratorOperational Support & Collaboration
Work proactively with Team Leads and Campus Supervisors to address training gaps and guard limitationsAssist with training delivery during staffing constraints or operational surgesDebrief major incidents and develop targeted training material to address identified gapsReport all health and safety concerns through appropriate administrative channelsProfessional Standards
Maintain strict confidentiality regarding personnel matters, investigations, and sensitive informationRepresent the security program with professionalism and strong customer service skillsPerform other duties as assigned in support of campus security operationsQualifications & Requirement
Minimum 2 years of security experience, preferably in a campus, institutional, or multi-site environmentLegally Authorized to work in CanadaValid Ontario Security Guard LicenceValid First Aid & CPR certificationStrong written and verbal communication skillsDemonstrated ability to coach, evaluate, and correct performancePreferred
Previous training, coaching, or supervisory experiencePost-secondary education in a related fieldExperience with KPI tracking, evaluations, or training documentationWhy choose Paladin?
