Champ's Fresh Farms Inc. (was Champ's Mushrooms Inc.) is Western Canada's largest mushroom distributor located in the Fraser Valley of southwestern British Columbia. As a prominent leader in the mushroom marketing genre, Champ's consistently provides leading concepts in distribution & quality control for the mushroom industry. We are now seeking for a QA Technician to join our team at Champs.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The primary role of the QA Technician is to ensure the product quality and that the product is received, processed and shipped following the food safety standards of the Company. This position reports to QA Supervisor. As a key member of the QA team, this position assists QA Manager in external and external food safety audits. This position is required to work on the weekends as well.

KEY POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform product quality checks (appearance, label, placement of label, holes in the film, date code, temperature of product).
  • Taking area temperature, finished product temperature and Calibrating temperature probes.
  • Understand and comply with all SQF Code, HACCP and GMP requirements and processes.
  • Provide guidance to line-staff maintaining high standards of Food Safety
  • Perform line and full case inspections to monitor production.
  • Facilitating GMP training for new hires and existing staff.
  • Must be able to evaluate others in following standard GMP and HACCP rules.
  • atleast 2 years of SQF experience

Physical Demands:

  • Required to bend, stretch, kneel, reach, and walk distances through the entire facility.
  • Ability to work in a cold environment.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 10lbs - 15 lbs

To be considered for this position you must meet the following minimum requirements

  • Diploma or formal post-secondary education in Food Science and HACCP
  • Atleast 2 years of SQF experience
  • Minimum 1 year Quality Assurance experience in a food environment
  • Experience with 3rd party audits or CFIA inspections is an asset.
  • Good computer skills including Word and Excel. Proficiency with Excel spreadsheets is desired.
  • Excellent English communication skills- both verbal and written
  • Ability to be accurate and thorough
  • Must have flexibility with work schedule
