Screening Nurse – Fluoroscopy Patient Intake
Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to support our fluoroscopy services. The successful candidate will work from our Mississauga office at 5225 Satellite Drive. The role will be critical in ensuring patients are clinically prepared and safe for fluoroscopy-guided procedures who receive care in our network of community clinics. The nurse will assess fluoroscopy referrals, review medical histories, medications that could influence scheduling of procedures and coordinate pre-procedure requirements in collaboration with intake and our clinical teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and screen incoming referrals for fluoroscopy procedures.
- Assess patient medical history, current medications, allergies, and relevant conditions to ensure procedural safety through patient files and phone calls to patients.
- Evaluate supporting documentation such as imaging, lab results, and diagnostic reports.
- Identify and coordinate additional requirements, including:
- Clearance for anticoagulants or blood thinners
- Bone Mineral Density (BMD) results
- Additional imaging or laboratory tests
- Liaise with referring physicians and external facilities to obtain missing clinical information.
- Track and manage pending documentation to ensure timely completion.
- Contact patients to review instructions, medication adjustments, and preparation steps.
- Maintain accurate documentation in internal tracking systems.
- Collaborate with intake and administrative teams for smooth scheduling and patient flow.
- Uphold patient confidentiality and comply with professional, ethical, and regulatory standards.
Qualifications:
- Licensed Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
- Active membership with the Registered Practical Nurses Association of Ontario (RPNAO), including Private Licence Protection (PLP) coverage.
- At least two years of recent clinical experience, ideally in diagnostic imaging, ambulatory care, or outpatient settings.
- Solid knowledge of medication safety and management practices relevant to procedural imaging.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Teams, Excel, and electronic medical record (EMR) systems (preferably OSCAR).
- Strong communication, organization, and time management skills.
- Proven ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Assets:
- Prior experience supporting fluoroscopy procedures.
- Understanding of referral workflows and clinical documentation processes.
- Background in call centre/patient intake or patient support roles, with a focus on clinical coordination.
Compensation details:
25-27 Hourly Wage
