Handmade Saskatchewan started out as a group of like-minded vendors, supporting and helping each other with shows. Slowly over 9 years it's snowballed into markets, and now 4 retail locations

We opened our first retail location in 2019 and the response has been amazing So much so, that we expanded and opened a second location in 2020. We're located on Chuka Blvd in Regina, Centre St in Regina Beach, and in the Midtown & Lawson malls in Saskatoon. The stores carry items from over 200 Saskatchewan artisans and makers, with the largest selection in the province. We're proud to support local small businesses

Job description

The role: Local Sales Associate

The Local Sales Associate is responsible for effectively selling locally made products to our customers and for creating well merchandised and fun place for our customers to shop. You are friendly, able to handle multiple priorities at one time while providing excellent customer service and promoting your love for all things locally made.

Your responsibilities include

  • Helping customers find the perfect buy for themselves or gift for their friends and family
  • Build a lasting relationship with all our vendors
  • Help in facilitating a physical store our artisans and makers can sell their product in
  • Merchandise vendor inventory
  • Notify vendors when their product is low and needs to be restocked
  • Create a welcoming and friendly place for lovers of everything handmade and local to shop
  • Monitor business emails and correspond with vendors

The ideal candidate will

  • Show enthusiasm with each interaction, and sell to each customer, educate them on supporting local.
  • Keep store clean, replenished and well merchandised between customers
  • Show up on time for each shift
  • Have fun at work and help us create a fun, positive place to shop and work each day
  • A love of handmade gifts and locally made items
  • Ability to work hours based on the needs of the business
  • Excellent Communication Skills - verbal and written
  • High level of personal accountability
  • Charisma - Able to approach customers authentically and interact in a way that is genuine and drives conversation about our brand and our products

Experience:

  • retail: 1 year (Preferred)
  • sales: 1 year (Preferred)
  • customer service: 1 year (Preferred)

Job term will be part time hours from January to mid November and full time for the Christmas season. It consists mainly of mornings and afternoons, with some evening shifts. This position is for our Midtown Plaza and Lawson Heights Mall locations.
