Position Summary:

Independent Living Waterloo Region is seeking an experienced Supervisor who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of people with disabilities in our community. The Afternoon Attendant Services Supervisor provides leadership to employees, and is responsible for ensuring the provision of safe, effective, quality Consumer care within their program area. The Attendant Services Supervisor works as part of a team and is accountable for the successful delivery of community support services, hiring, supervision, training, and team operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide ongoing support, supervision, orientation, education and training to employees that work in Consumer homes
  • Promote a safe and healthy workplace, confirming conduct and activities are in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Contribute to the delivery of support services through team building, excellent Customer service, continuous quality improvement and risk management.
  • Communicate performance expectations clearly and consistently with teams.
  • Facilitate and support scheduling, payroll submissions, performance management and quality monitoring of support services.
  • Ensure the implementation of and adherence to policies, procedures, and other relevant legislative or professional requirements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation relating to Consumer records, employee files, performance management, attendance, and other related operational/human resource matters.
  • Keep up-to-date with daily changes, including in Consumer service and/or care plans.
  • On-call rotation approximately every 8 weeks

The successful Afternoon Supervisor, Attendant Services will have:

  • Post-Secondary education in a related field.
  • 2 years' supervisory experience, preferably in a related community support service environment.
  • Demonstrated skillsets in leadership and team building
  • Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while balancing competing priorities.
  • Excellent conflict resolution, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Outstanding focus on Consumer safety and ability to develop respectful working relationships with Consumers to meet their care needs
  • Ability to accept and facilitate change.
  • Access to a reliable vehicle, valid Canadian Drivers license and insurance.
  • Current, satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
  • Member of registered health care college is an asset.
  • Bilingual in English and French is considered an asset

Job Details:

Status: Full-Time, Permanent

Hours: 40 Hrs/week, 8-hour shifts (Afternoons/Evening), occasional weekend availability, on-call rotation

Location: Region of Waterloo (i.e. Cambridge, Kitchener, Waterloo)

Pay: From CA$62,940 per year
