Overview

Reporting into the Director of Finance, the
Senior Accountant
plays a key role in the Finance team, overseeing complex accounting functions, payroll administration, financial reporting, and compliance. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the configuration, and customization of financial accounting systems (Sage), ensuring alignment with business requirements and reporting standards.
  • Drive integration of financial systems and software with enterprise platforms, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless data flow and system performance.
  • Lead data migration efforts, including mapping, transforming, and reconciling data from legacy systems to new platforms, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
  • Document financial processes and software configurations, including requirements analysis, system setup, and post-implementation procedures for effective knowledge sharing.
  • Develop and maintain financial reports and dashboards using advanced reporting tools and integrations, delivering clear presentations and actionable insights for management.
  • Lead financial modeling and analysis for business cases, projects, and initiatives, providing insights to support tactical and strategic decisions.
  • Develop, apply, and improve integrated financial models to support investment projects and internal budget development.
  • Support and participate in annual budget planning and audit processes.
  • Determine forecasting methods and data sources, utilizing internal BI metrics and external data; prepare ad hoc financial analysis, forecasting reports, and presentations for management.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external financial policies and regulations.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of effective internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure reliability of financial statements.
  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion with sensitive information.
  • Oversee payroll administration for a multi-company, multi-province environment (approx. 200 employees), ensuring accuracy and compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Reconcile payroll journals and general ledger accounts; perform conformity control reviews.
  • Prepare and file statutory tax deductions and government reports (T4, Relevé 1, CNESST, WSIB, WCB).
  • Perform other related responsibilities as required.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in financial accounting, payroll administration, or financial analysis.
  • Experience with ADP WorkforceNow and advanced MS Excel (complex formulas); proficiency in MS Office.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll systems, procedures, and policies.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and French
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and execution.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with all levels of staff.
  • Experience presenting to management and preparing reports for Finance and leadership.

Proficiency in English is required solely due to regular communications with partners, suppliers, and teams outside of Quebec.
