Position summary

The Job Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating work across engineering, fabrication/machining, assembly, and test to support on-time delivery, efficient execution, and clear shop priorities.

Key responsibilities

· Create and maintain job plans, routings, and work orders for custom machine build and automation projects

· Build and maintain project schedules and weekly production plans (milestones, dependencies, and priorities)

· Coordinate with engineering to ensure timely release of drawings, BOMs, and changes

· Organize purchasing to confirm lead times, support expediting, and prevent material shortages

· Issue and manage jobs / work packages so the shop has the right sequence, documentation, and revisions

· Track WIP progress, identify schedule risks early, and communicate priorities and status updates to stakeholders

· Coordinate inter-department handoffs (fabrication/machining to assembly, assembly to test/commissioning)

· Maintain planning files and master data (lead times, routings, job structures) using Excel and shared folders

· Act in accordance with EH&S best practices to promote a safe and healthy working environment

Qualification requirements

· 3+ years of planning/scheduling experience in a manufacturing environment (custom machinery, automation, fabrication, or similar preferred)

· Strong understanding of shop workflows and constraints (machining/fabrication, assembly, integration, testing)

· Ability to interpret technical documentation (drawings, BOMs, build packages)

· Strong Excel skills (scheduling, tracking, pivot tables, basic formulas) and strong attention to detail

· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

· On-time regular attendance
