The time frame is expected to be from January 5 to May 3, 2026, and the hours will be approximately 16 hours or 2 days per week.

Overview

The Faculty of Education at the University of Alberta is home to Clinical Services, a professional psychology training clinic serving five graduate programs, their courses, and related practica. The mandate of Clinical Services supports professional learning and research by providing graduate students with quality training experiences that meet the Canadian Psychological Association's functional competencies in intervention (individual, group), formal assessment, supervision, research, and teaching. Clinical Services is committed to providing the community with low cost psychological services that are accessible and effective to the general public. The Counselling Psychology program maintains accreditation with the Canadian Psychological Association and the Clinical Supervisor is an essential component of this commitment. The Clinical Supervisor is a doctoral level Registered Psychologist who brings professional clinical experience and education to facilitate learning, manage emergency situations, supervise, and provide support to students who are providing services to clients. In addition, the Clinical Supervisor oversees the internal and external practicum placements and supervises, coordinates the pre-doctoral residency program, and provides administrative support to the Clinic. The Clinical Supervisor reports to the Dean or the Dean's Designate of the Faculty of Education.

In this temporary part-time position, the Clinical Supervisor will be directly supervising two pre-doctoral residents from the CPA-Accredited Edmonton Cross-Specialty Psychology Residency Consortium, directly supervising four to six 2nd year master's students completing a formal assessment practicum, providing supplemental and supportive supervision for other Counseling Psychology's practica, and supporting day-to-day clinic operations. There may also be opportunities to provide guest lectures.

Required

  • Doctoral degree in Clinical, School, or Counselling Psychology, preferably from a program accredited with the Canadian Psychological Association.
  • Registered psychologist and in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists.
  • A minimum of 3 years post-registration experience in a hospital, community, private practice, or school setting.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of supervision & psychologist training practice.
  • Competence in formal assessment and related supervision, as defined by the College of Alberta's Branches of Psychology and Professional Activities.
  • Familiarity with and commitment to all relevant professional standards, codes, and guidelines, including the College of Alberta Psychologists' Standards of Practice and the Canadian Psychologists Association's Code of Ethics for Psychologists.

Preferred

  • Knowledge of community resources and able to refer clients to those resources as appropriate.
  • Ability to interact in a manner that positively contributes to a cooperative office atmosphere, and to participate as a team member in maintaining office systems and a productive task environment.
  • Ability to case conference and consult as a member of a team of professionals about clients of particular concern or challenge.
  • Knowledge and ability to provide psychological services to a diverse clientele in an effective and ethical manner.
