Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Structural Engineer with at least 2 years of hands-on experience in Vertex BD to join our engineering team.

This position focuses on the design, analysis, and detailing of light steel framing systems for residential, commercial, and industrial projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structural modeling, technical drawings, and collaboration with manufacturing and construction teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed structural models and shop drawings using Vertex BD and related design software.
  • Review and optimize designs to ensure accuracy, cost-efficiency, and compliance with engineering standards.
  • Coordinate with project managers, production, and installation teams to ensure smooth workflow from design to construction.
  • Prepare technical documentation, layouts, and reports with high precision.
  • Perform structural analysis and load verification on cold-formed steel systems as required.
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and internal departments to resolve design or site-related issues efficiently.
  • Ensure all designs comply with Canadian building codes, safety standards, and company quality guidelines.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience using Vertex BD (mandatory).
  • Strong understanding of light steel framing design and construction.
  • Degree or diploma in Structural or Civil Engineering (or a related field).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar drafting tools (Revit, SolidWorks, etc. is an asset).
  • Ability to read, interpret, and produce detailed construction drawings.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of cold-formed steel standards and connection detailing is an asset.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
