Senior SR&ED Consultant

Canada's Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) program is one of the country's largest tax incentive programs. It is intended to create a supportive environment for Canadians to carry out research and development (R&D) and foster technological innovation. KPMG's Tax Incentives Practice (TIP) consists of a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and accountants that assist our clients to obtain tax savings through incentive programs like SR&ED.

KPMG is currently seeking to add an individual with a solid engineering background that has a desire to be exposed to new state-of-the art innovations in a wide range of industries. In this role you will assist our clients in identifying eligible SR&ED activities and describe these activities in a technical report. We will provide you with specialized training on Canada's SR&ED Tax Incentive Program which encourages businesses operating in Canada to develop new products or processes or improve existing ones in the field of science or technology.

• Be exposed to new and exciting technologies and state-of-the-art innovations in a range of industries with a focus on mechanical/ chemical engineering
• Working with Senior Managers you will participate in and support client technical interviews and examine operations to identify SR&ED eligible projects/activities
• Summarize eligible client activities in a technical report
• Project Management: Plan, organize and execute multiple engagements on time and within budget
• Client Management: Successfully develop and manage client relationships/expectations
• Having an understanding of the SR&ED program and the desire to keep up to date with changes in legislation

• A university degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related field
• At least 2 of progressive experience within industry
• Experience in SR&ED or other R&D related government tax incentive programs is an asset
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, Word, etc.)
• Keen interest in staying up-to-date with cutting edge technologies and trends
• Analytical thinker who can draw inferences and make unexpected connections
• Highly driven, autonomous, resilient and team player with a strong work ethic
