About the Role
We are currently looking for a Junior Accountant to join our Finance Team. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, Compliance and Accounts Receivable, this role will be responsible for processing receipts, sending invoices, and assisting with the preparation of reports. This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days per week in our Guelph location.
What You Will Do:
- Generate and review invoices for accuracy and completeness
- Ensure timely and accurate posting of invoices to the accounting system
- Collaborate with relevant departments to gather necessary information for invoicing and reconciliations
- Record and reconcile daily cash receipts
- Verify and apply payments to appropriate customer accounts
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in cash transactions
- Assisting the preparation of journal entries for various financial transactions, and review and analyze financial data to ensure accuracy before journal entry posting
- Conduct monthly reconciliations of various general ledger accounts
- Work closely with auditors to provide requested information and address inquiries
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements in financial reporting
- Preparation and remittance of GST/HST
- Provide backup support to the Accounts Receivable Administrator by answering customer calls regarding payments and assisting with payment processing
- Other duties and projects as required
What You Need to Succeed:
- Diploma or Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 1 year of relevant experience in accounting or similar role
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles
- Proficient in the use of MS Office, specifically Excel
- Experience using Microsoft Dynamics Business Central or NAV is considered an asset
