The OpportunityReporting to the Manager of Community Mental Health and Addictions (CMHA), the masters prepared Social Worker has responsibilities dedicated to the provision of services to clients referred through the Community Mental Health and Addictions clinics and with their Shared Care partner organization North End Community Health Center. The Social Worker will work as part of an interprofessional team within the Community Mental Health and Addictions Service which consists of a Psychologists, Social Workers, Recreation Therapists, Occupational Therapists, In Home Support Youth Care Workers, Nurses, Navigators and Psychiatrists.
The Social Worker will work with children, youth and families, utilizing the Choice and Partnership Approach (CAPA) to deliver care to children and youth up to 19 years of age in an ambulatory community setting. This is done in accordance with the mission, philosophies or supervisory approach. Responsibilities include clinical work with children, youth and their families, with an emphasis on individual and family therapy, as well as delivery of evidence-based group interventions. Teaching and clinical supervision of students, capacity building initiatives, clinical consultation and supervision of in-home support workers are responsibilities in the MSW role.

Your Qualifications- Masters Degree in Social Work required.
- Registered or eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers required.
- Minimum two (2) years post masters clinical experience working in child and adolescent mental health services required.
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification required (or willingness to obtain within 3 months of employ) is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within the last 12 month required (or successful completion of a BLS Renewal Challenge certificate required).
- A demonstrated commitment to family-centred care required.
- Demonstrated experience in individual/family therapy required.
- Demonstrated experience in delivery of evidence based group interventions required.
- Demonstrated knowledge and awareness of community based services and organizations.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and the demonstrated ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team..
- Demonstrated strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Candidates must have a valid Nova Scotia Drivers License, regular use of a reliable vehicle and appropriate insurance.
- Competencies in other languages an asset.
