Reports to: Operations Manager / General Manager

Time Requirement: Full time – Seasonal

Specific Responsibilities

  • Operate skid-steers, excavators, loaders, dozers, and various attachments or implements, efficiently and effectively towards high-quality construction completion
  • Mobilization of equipment and materials to sites across Southern Alberta with trucks and trailers, including flat-beds and dump trailers
  • Daily inspection and on-site maintenance of heavy equipment
  • Provide competent operation of excavators in steep mountainous terrain and environmentally sensitive areas
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Activities may include; general earthworks, excavating contaminated soil, reclamation earthwork, installation of plant materials, tree care and removal, grading operations, erosion control, and various other construction activities as needed.
  • May require Interpretation and implementation of blueprints, landscape plans, project specifications, procedures, and industry Best Practices.
  • Completing personal administration, including record keeping, correct and timely submission of timesheets, safety reporting, etc.
  • Work with a team, in local locations, as well as in remote settings requiring overnight stays. (Hotels/Accommodation/LOA provided for remote projects)

  • Reports or corrects dangerous situations
  • Reports accidents/incident and fills out proper paperwork
  • Safe operation of tools and equipment
  • Use of required safety equipment and PPE
  • Strong time management, project planning and written/verbal communications

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications

must complete in-house company training and on-the-job training will be provided.

  • Experience operating skid-steers, excavators, loaders, dozers with a variety of attachments
  • Prior operating experience in steep mountainous terrain, operating in environmentally sensitive areas, and in reclamation specific tasks.
  • Registration with a professional organization is considered an asset.
  • First Aid, WHMIS, TDG, Construction Safety Training System, and company specific orientation required prior to starting work on projects
  • Certifications such as; Landscape Industry, International Society of Arboriculture, Ground Disturbance, Fall Protection, Chainsaw Safety, or any additional training certificates are considered an asset.
